The UNIFASE/FMP Faculty of Medicine in Petrópolis has received approval for a new medical residency program in Surgical Oncology, offering two positions starting in January 2024 through the National Residency Exam (ENARE).
This expansion signifies a major milestone for UNIFASE/FMP, strengthening its commitment to academic excellence and partnerships in oncology research and care. It directly addresses the growing needs within the healthcare sector and offers a significant opportunity for students.
The program provides residents with immersive training under experienced professionals, utilizing evidence-based methods. This specialized training will equip future surgeons with the skills necessary to meet the challenges of oncological care, setting them apart in the field.
Beyond benefiting students, the program will positively impact the Petrópolis community. Increased access to specialized cancer treatments will reduce the need for patients to travel to larger cities, leading to faster diagnoses and treatments. The presence of resident physicians will also foster educational and awareness initiatives, improving the overall quality of life.
In addition to the Surgical Oncology residency, UNIFASE/FMP has also applied for approval to offer a residency program in Oncology Nursing. Positions will be available once authorization is granted by the CNRMS.
